As a Central Park resident, one of the things I really enjoy about the neighborhood is its strong sense of community. I know my neighbors and they know me – and not just because I represent them on City Council. We’ve had progressive dinners where we move from one house to the next over the course of a meal, and we know what’s going on in each other’s lives.
The incredible amenities in Central Park include open space, parks, a brand-new library, a regional recreation center, the businesses and community space in the East 29th Avenue Town Center, movies on the green, a farmers’ market, and more. These places and events bring us together and offer not just goods and services, but shared community experiences. I also appreciate how pet-friendly our neighborhood is, with great dog parks nearby and lots of other people out and about with their animals.
Whether transitioning out of homelessness, moving into a million-dollar home, or somewhere in between, Central Park offers options for a diverse community. With the addition of the 55 and up apartments at The Overture due to open in 2014, the neighborhood will add another lifestyle option to serve our population. No matter your place in life, there’s a place for you in Central Park .
Now, Conservatory Green neighborhood represents much of where we are headed in Denver: a move toward green, sustainable building and neighborhoods that have a strong sense of place and community. The neighborhood has the advantage of a close connection to The Shops at Northfield, offering easy access to grocery shopping, restaurants, movies and more.
Central Park has also made its mark not just in Denver, but globally. The neighborhood was recently recognized as the tenth, best-selling, master-planned community in the country and has been recognized worldwide as a model for community planning. Even London is looking to us for inspiration – officials at Heathrow International Airport have expressed interest in modeling a project of their own on what we’ve done here in our community.
As Central Park and its new Conservatory Green neighborhood continue to grow, I look forward to serving current and future residents who join the exciting things happening in Northeast Denver.
