My blog series continues as I get an opportunity to interview with general manager Eric at Brother’s Bar and Grill. I was excited for the conversation with Eric to learn more about one of the newest restaurant in The Shops Northfield.
Eric has been in the restaurant industry for 15 years and enjoys interacting with his guests, staff and of course the food. “I love the smell of the fresh bacon cooking in the kitchen every morning”.
Eric believes that food is the universal language. “It’s great to see family and friends bonding with one another, enjoying their time together over food and drinks.”
How would you describe the food at Brothers Bar and Grill?
“We have an outstanding menu. Few restaurants can compare. Brothers Bar and Grill is a full scratch kitchen. We make our own salad dressings and sauces to use as marinates. We even make our kettle chips from scratch daily!”
What’s your favorite dish at your restaurant and why?
Eric’s favorite dish is the Six Cheese Mac and Cheese. This dish is made with penne pasta, six cheeses and mixed with chopped Applewood smoked bacon. “The mac and cheese here is soul food and it is so delicious”.
His next best favorite is the wings (traditional and boneless). “Our boneless wings are are all white chicken rolled in signature breading and fried. I’m addicted to the wings here!” Sauces for these delicious wings include honey- sriracha, sweet BBQ, spicy garlic or buffalo.
What’s the inspiration for the menu here at this Northfield Location?
The menu at the Northfield location is the same menu offered at the downtown and Lone Tree locations. The menu is diverse and offers something for everyone including wraps, salads, burgers, sandwiches and entrées.
Brothers Bar and Grill offers the typical classic bacon cheeseburger and over-the-top burgers such as the Piggy Back Burger. Piggy Bank Burger is a fresh beef patty topped with tangy sweet BBQ pulled pork. Bacon and pepper jack cheese are included for extra flavor.
Another dish for adventurous eaters is the gator balls (no this is not alligator meat), it’s actually chicken breast wedges wrapped in bacon, stuffed with pepper jack cheese and served with house made peppercorn ranch.
Random question… What is your favorite spice? And what makes it your favorite?
“Cayenne pepper is my favorite spice! I put it on everything. It’s my favorite because it’s spicy but mellows out, making it not too overwhelming and adding flavor”.
Do you offer desserts here? What’s your favorite?
“Yes! There are many desserts offered such as the Granny Apple Pie or Salted Caramel Crunch Cake. The Crème Brulee Cheesecake is my favorite!”
Are there any additional thoughts, facts, or information you would like to share about Brother’s Bar and Grill?
“Brother’s Bar is a duel concept. We are open from 11am to 2am every day. From 11am to 10pm, the atmosphere is for families and sports fans. From 10pm to 2pm Brother’s Bar brings the party to Northfield with great music and live bands.”
