Picture this…
The fluttering of brightly colored saris as dancers float down the street with big smiles and pointed toes, tambourines jingling to a steady beat. Off to the side, a giggling toddler and a laughing police officer take turns riding tricycles through a maze of fun (happy parents look-on).
Suddenly, the delicious smell of savory pierogies drifts by. Someone hands you a freshly baked, warm cheese biscuit. It hits the spot.
And then you see the approaching train. It slides into Central Park Station, gleaming silver, coming in from Downtown Denver and heading toward Denver International Airport. Today’s the day Central Park Station finally takes flight.

When we asked Central Park Station Street Partygoers about the new “Train to the Plane” addition to the Central Park Denver community, here’s what we heard:
Bailey (Age 5): “It looks like it goes fast!”
Courtney (A Mom at the celebration): “This has been something we’ve all been talking about for a long time. It’s such a big deal to have this as a transportation option in Denver.”
Jim (A Dad at the celebration): “I can’t wait for people from out of town to come visit and I can say, ‘Take the train to Central Park Station from the airport and I’ll meet you there.’”
Katie (Downtown Worker): “This just changed my entire commute in the most amazing way.”
Thank you to the thousands of people involved in the Central Park Station Street Party — from the organizers, to the sponsors, to the performers, and the families that came out in celebration. It was a day filled with joy, excitement, respect, gratitude, and a love for our great city and how far we’ve come. All aboard!
