A passion for swimming, and more importantly, passing that same passion on to the next generation through strategic (and fun) education helped turned a vision into a thriving new Stapleton business. After breaking ground in January, owners and eight-year residents, Amy and Patrick Turner, proudly opened the doors to their 9,000 square-foot swim school on August 29, 2017.
“We’ve received a wonderful reception from neighbors and surrounding communities with hundreds of lessons given in just our first week alone,” said co-owner, Amy Turner.
Goldfish’s mission focuses on children’s education—mainly children aged four months to 12 years—with lessons catering to a variety of abilities. The school plans to remain open year-round, and even offers casual “drop-in” lessons for those curious to learn more.
The school prides itself on being much more than just another swim school—as they provide a “Golden Experience” for both parent and child.
“What the Golden Experience means is offering the highest levels of customer service to all who enter. Going the extra mile is our daily credo and is especially important when it comes to teaching children,” explained Turner.
The bright, clean facility and state-of-the-art pool provides a comfortable place for children of Northeast Denver and the entire Metro area to learn to swim. No more than 4 children to 1 swim instructor exists, allowing children to master skills they need to be safe and confident in the water.
Goldfish Swim School plans to offer specials events like birthday parties, family swim, and accelerated Jump Start Clinics (a perfect compliment to the various swim teams and events that occur year-round within the Central Park community).
According to Business Den, the couple received a $3.1 million SBA loan to cover part of the costs. This highlights another important aspect of the new business—that small, locally-owned businesses remain an integral part of the growing community.
“We have been Central Park residents for a decade and know first-hand just how unique this tightly knit community really is. Like a lot of Central Parkers, we have a three year old son and a seven year old daughter who are highly active. Offering a life skill while promoting a healthy lifestyle through Goldfish just seemed like a natural fit.”
Though just getting their feet wet into the depths of entrepreneurship, the Turner Family intends to add 20+ jobs into the local economy through this latest endeavour.
Goldfish Swim School is having its Grand Opening Party on Saturday, September 16th from 2-5pm. During the event, you can tour the facility, enjoy time in the pool, and soak in some family fun.
Goldfish Swim School is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9am-7pm. Membership and lessons vary. The school is located at 9119 E. 50th Avenue.
