The Kappa Tower II apartments have finally opened their doors in Central Park!
The income-restricted affordable senior living facility, visualized and spearheaded by Kappa Housing, Inc.’s (KHI) board of directors, opened April 9th at the southwest corner of Northfield Boulevard and Central Park Boulevard, for senior 62 years and older.
Kappa Tower II is the long-awaited follow-up to the original Kappa Tower at 22nd and Downing Street in Denver, which was built in 1984 for low- and moderate-income seniors.
“I’m so proud that it’s finally finished and open,” says Larry Williams, Chairman of KHI Board of Directors. “It’s been a long time coming and the need for this type of housing is as great now as it was then.”
Just a stone’s throw from The Shops at Northfield, the L-shaped Kappa Tower II boasts one and two-bedroom units (so far, the one-bedroom floorplan is the most popular), a fitness facility, spacious floorplans with sweeping windows, a picnic area and community garden, as well as energy-efficient appliances, laundry facilities on each floor, a community room for gatherings and holiday parties, and 24-hour emergency services.
“Our residents enjoy being within walking distance to local shopping and dining as well as participating in our engaging social activities,” said Kappa Tower II’s community manager, Lawanda Dudley.
“I don’t think anyone is happier to be a part of this community than me,” says resident Steve Jocelyn. “I’m looking forward to meeting and engaging with my new neighbors!”
The building has 70 units overall, with 40 occupied currently. KHI has plans for a second phase that will attach to the building in an L-shape, which will add up to 40 additional units within a couple of years.
“We’re excited for the rest of that “L” to be completed,” Williams continued.
To qualify, residents must be age 62 and older with income at 30 to 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).
