Dan and Linda Gordon are a long way from their life in Washington D.C.
“We knew we weren’t going to retire out there,” Dan said.
So in September, Linda flew to Denver and picked out a house in Wonderland Homes’ Courtyard Traditions collection. They closed on it in December.
“I’m retired military, so we’re used to moving. But this was the easiest transition we’ve ever had,” he said. The couple was attracted to Central Park because of their 1-year-old grandson (and another on the way), but found a new way of life.
“We can just get on our bikes and go. People are so friendly – they actually say hi to you … even the dogs are friendly,” Dan said. “We’ve already started the process of planning a courtyard block party.”
The Gordons picked a ranch home with a main-floor master, which offered lower maintenance and a welcome change from their house in D.C.
“We had a four-story townhouse on a golf course,” Dan said. “But this home has a surprising amount of space.”
“A lot of people we see want to downsize,” said Tom Sorensen with Wonderland Homes. “It’s a big driver.”
The Gordons’ home is also in Central Park West, one of the newest neighborhoods.
“Everything we need is right here … the Rec. Center, the grocery store, the vet,” Dan said. “You can’t get any better than that.”
The best feature of their new home?
“My wife’s smiling face,” Dan said, adding that the home’s spacious floor plan, double vanity in the master bathroom and two-car garage were a nice bonus.
