Just north of Central Park is our Adams County neighbor, Commerce City. Commerce City is a growing community that currently spans 41 square miles, and offers a variety of activities that everyone can enjoy.
One of the largest amenities in Commerce City is Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is home to the Colorado Rapids, and is currently the largest and most state-of-the art soccer stadium and field complex in the world.
The field complex consists of 24 full-sized, fully-lit sports fields, which includes 22 natural grass and 2 synthetic turf fields that are available to the public.
Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will be hosting the first Colorado Rapids game on March 22 against the Portland Timbers. Go Rapids!
Aside from being home to one of the largest soccer venues in the world, Commerce City hosts free and fun-filled events throughout the year.
One main event is the Memorial Day Parade (one of Colorado’s largest parades). This year’s parade will mark its 50th anniversary. The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day and runs along a 1.5-mile parade route that begins at 64th Avenue/Newport Street and ends at 6060 E. Parkway Drive. The parade lasts approximately two hours.
Another great amenity for all to enjoy in Commerce City is the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. With over 15,000 acres, the refuge is a sanctuary for more than 330 species of animals including bison, deer, coyotes, bald eagles and burrowing owls.
