I finally convinced my Mom and Dad to move to Central Park about a year ago. Once I got pregnant with my daughter I realized the commute to Castle Rock would be too long of a haul for Grandma and Grandpa to babysit three times a week.
With little need for convincing, they purchased a beautiful Parkwood home in Central Park North. It’s located 10 blocks directly north of my home which means that in order to walk there, I have the privilege of walking through the communities largest park, Central Park.
This is my family’s favorite park because there is so much to do there. We’ve sat on the green and listened to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra play classical music while the sun was setting. We’ve played in the interactive fountain on a hot summer day. We’ve dragged our sleds over to the sled hill in a huge blizzard and have laughed ‘til we wet our pants.
But my favorite thing about Central Park is our walk to Grandma and Grandpa’s house and watching my daughter play on the purple mountains in the kid’s playground.
My daughter is becoming more agile at 18 months old and is constantly challenging her abilities. When she was finally able to climb to the top of the purple mountains without my assistance, she gave me this look of true accomplishment, which melted my heart.
Watching her grow up in this neighborhood reminds me of my childhood and how wonderful it was to be surrounded by so many kids and to be so close to my Grandma.
Central Park is like a small town with a big heart and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
