When Nikita Alexander moved to Colorado from Washington, D.C. in 2015, she knew she might have to scramble a bit to rebuild her client base. In a city that has a smaller African American population than “Chocolate City” (D.C.), Denver was going to be a challenge.
But because of her creativity and understanding of hairstyles that help women feel confident and maintain their hair despite the arid Colorado climate, Alexander has amassed a dedicated following of Coloradans of all ethnicities looking for a professional stylist who will listen and execute! In fact, her client base has followed her to her newly opened salon, Hair Society, in The Shops at Northfield.
“I’ve wanted to move into Northfield ever since I got to Colorado,” Alexander says. “I love the environment and the energy I get here. Besides, it’s centrally located, and great for families!”
She should know. She recently moved into the Conservatory Green neighborhood and enrolled her children at High Tech Elementary.
Alexander specializes in styles that help her clients avoid relaxers, chemicals and other styles that put stress on the hair. On any given day, you’ll see well-coiffed women leave Hair Society with twists, extensions, dreadlocks, custom wigs, micro links, up-do’s, low-maintenance styles and other elegant transformations.
“I love transforming humans,” she says. “I love helping them find their inner beauty and show it on the outside.”
She also does wedding parties, and has recently added the title of naturopathic nutritionist (a nutritionist who creates diet and health regimens to help people meet their wellness goals) to her suite of services.
