Thrive Home Builders named one of America’s most innovative homebuilders
Denver-based zero energy builder a Grand Winner in US Department of Energy 2016 Housing Innovation Awards
(DENVER) October 24, 2016 – Thrive Home Builders continues to be among the most innovative homebuilders in the U.S., as recognized last month by the U.S. Department of Energy at the agency’s 2016 Housing Innovation Awards.
For the fourth consecutive year, Thrive was selected as a Grand Winner, this year in the Multi-Family Homes category. Only six Grand Winners were chosen in five categories among nearly 40 outstanding Zero Energy Ready Homes designed by the nation’s top homebuilders. Thrive was recognized for innovative design in its three-story rowhomes located in the new urbanist RidgeGate development in Lone Tree, Colorado.
The DOE launched its Housing Innovation Awards in 2013. Thrive has been recognized every year since the awards’ inception.
“Thrive Home Builders and its fellow winners are leading a major housing industry transformation that improves the way Americans live by substantially reducing or eliminating utility bills, ensuring engineered comfort way beyond traditional homes, protecting health with a comprehensive package of indoor air quality measures, and helping owners maximize the largest investment of their lifetime,” said Sam Rashkin, Chief Architect at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office.
The RidgeGate Rowhomes are Zero Energy Ready and built using Thrive’s premium performance exterior double 2×4 walls. The resulting 9.5-inch exterior wall provides homeowners with additional money-saving insulation, while raising truss heel heights to 14 inches maximizes insulation depths, which improves the overall energy efficiency of the home. Designs also include solar energy panels and are Indoor airPLUS certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, providing owners with a healthier interior environment.
“To be recognized four years in a row confirms our team’s creativity and commitment to building homes of exceptional performance,” Thrive CEO Gene Myers said. “We accepted the award, but our customers benefit. It assures them that they are buying an exceptionally finished, well-built and healthy home that is also on the leading edge of innovation in energy efficiency.”
Thrive’s award-winning home, along with other grand winners, can be seen on the DOE’s Tour of Zero, which offers a virtual tour, outlines overall homeowner satisfaction, and details proven innovations in each of the homes.
