Sweet William: Not your Typical Marketplace

Sweet William Market!

Why the name Sweet William Market? Market owner and Realtor, Kim Kouba, explains that the name is not only tied to a native Colorado flower, but also to some beloved neighbors and a warm memory with fellow, Central Park residents in 1995.

Kouba likes the supportive family feel of the name that reflects the vibe in Central Park and celebrates a neighborhood with residents who care about each other. This rings true for the relationships between market vendors as well. “We’ve become known for being super supportive and on market day, you see true teamwork.” Kouba said.  This year marks the seventh season for the Sweet William Market.

In the beginning, she thought the market would be “purely vintage.” As Sweet William evolved with many adjoining merchants, the market began to also feature lifestyle merchandise.

Although many new vendors join the market every month, Central Park resident, Jennifer Carrabetta of Dizzy Izzy children’s apparel, Babes n Hussies vintage finds, and Way Back Yonder’s garden art have been around since Sweet William’s beginning.

Each month, Sweet William hosts around 60 vendors. Live music, food and dessert trucks grace the grassy grounds, fitting Sweet William Market into a category all its own.

That also explains why the Sweet William Market is on Founders’ Green in Central Park, and not in a weathered parking lot downtown. “The Green is charming and brings traffic to the town center.”
